Can Liposuction or smart lipo be used to treat gynecomastia?

Tuesday, 22 December 2009 23:28 by plastic-surgeon

Gynecomastia is the name given to the condition in which men develop excessively large mammary glands resulting in breast enlargement. The condition can affect either a single breast or both of them and is sometimes also accompanied by the secretion of milk. Although it is uncertain what is the exact cause of the breast enlargement seen in gynecomastia it is generally thought to result from an imbalance in the sex hormones testosterone and oestrogen.  The condition is particularly common in adolescence and in the elderly which is thought to be due to fluctuations in hormone levels during these specific time periods.

Have you considered permalip?

Friday, 18 December 2009 03:21 by plastic-surgeon

Permalip is a form of lip augmentation which involves the insertion of a soft solid lip implant which cannot leak or rupture. Permalip was developed after extensive research with an aim to avoid the numerous pitfalls associated with traditional lip enhancement techniques. Due to its success Permalip is now a patented lip implant procedure and is the only CE marked medical device for lip enhancement.

So why are so many people interested in lip augmentation in the first place?
The aim of any lip augmentation procedure is to enhance the aesthetic appearance of the lips by increasing their volume and giving them a fuller and more voluptuous appearance. The lips naturally tend to start losing volume with ageing which is why lip enhancement procedures are typically chosen by patients past the age of 30. On the other hand there is a significant group of individual who wish to have lip implants because they have thinner lips than they prefer which is not due to ageing and simply want to enhance their appearance. Can breast enlargement surgery help restore a youthful look?

Thursday, 10 December 2009 23:43 by mike

Breast enlargement is probably the most popular form of cosmetic surgery. Celebrities having breast augmentation surgery is a common topic of discussion in the media with more and more women reporting that they feel better about their bodies after having breast enlargement cosmetic surgery.

The loss of breast volume and shape is a natural part of the ageing process which can lower a woman’s confidence in her appearance and hence self esteem. Breast enlargement surgery can help significantly reverse the signs of ageing as the insertion of breast implants can give the breasts a fuller and more youthful appearance. Therefore alongside having naturally small breasts, ageing is the most common reason why women consider breast augmentation surgery. Other reasons for breast enlargement surgery include loss of breast volume after considerable weight loss and loss of breast tissue post mastectomy.

Preparing for liposuction cosmetic surgery?

Friday, 4 December 2009 01:31 by mike
Liposuction is the most popular fat removal cosmetic surgery procedure in the UK. Liposuction surgery can help remove excess fat from a number of different regions of the body including the waist, abdomen, thighs, arms and back. Due to advancements in liposuction plastic surgery over the last few decades it is now commonly performed on multiple regions of the body during a single operation.

Since liposuction is a surgical procedure it involves a certain amount of pre operative preparation like any other major cosmetic surgery procedure. Good pre-operative preparation is essential because it can help both reduce the risk of post operative complications and help improve the recovery time post surgery.

Smart lipo as a substitute to liposuction cosmetic surgery?

Thursday, 3 December 2009 04:23 by mike
Smart Lipo is one of the most advanced fat removal procedures available today which due to its short recovery time has often also been referred to as ‘Lunchtime Lipo’. Prior to the advent of Smartlipo, liposuction cosmetic surgery was the only widely accepted fat removal procedure available.
There are a number of differences between Smart Lipo and liposuction surgery. One of the key differences is that smartlipo makes use of laser technology to melt away excess fat from the body whilst liposuction uses a more traditional surgical method of removing fat by making larger incisions and using suction to drain fat from the targeted regions.
Another important reason why smartlipo is being commonly used now as a substitute to liposuction cosmetic surgery is that it has a considerably lower recovery time. Recovering from liposuction surgery generally takes a few weeks whilst a few days is generally more than sufficient for recovery post smartlipo treatment with patients often reporting being able to return to work the next day. The quick recovery time after smart lipo treatment is attributed to the fact that it is a minimally invasive procedure. Smartlipo treatment involves making very small incisions which require no suturing afterwards and the procedure requires local anesthesia only. In comparison Liposuction cosmetic surgery may require to be performed under general anesthesia and does require sutures to be placed to close the incisions.
