Breast Enlargement Information

Tuesday, 27 January 2009 06:34 by mike
In our previous article we discussed some of main reasons why women choose to have breast enlargement surgery. In this article we will provide you with answers to some of the most commonly asked questions in relation to the recovery period post breast augmentation surgery.

How long after having breast enlargement surgery will I be able to return to work?
Most women return to work within ten to fourteen days after having a breast augmentation. We advise women considering having breast enhancement surgery to take at least two weeks leave from work to rest and recover post surgery. If your work requires a large amount of strenuous activity then a longer period off work may be required. Your cosmetic surgeon will be able to provide you with a realistic time period you will need to take off work if this is the case for you.

What about scaring post breast enlargement surgery?
To insert the breast implants the surgeon will have to make an incision near each breast.  The most common regions where the incision is made are around the areola or the crease under the breast. The incision can also be made under the armpit if endoscopically assisted breast augmentation surgery is performed. The exact procedure which you undergo will depend on a number of factors including your anatomy and your personal preference. It is strongly advisable that you discuss the various surgical options that are available to you in depth with your cosmetic surgeon. However regardless of the procedure which is performed your cosmetic surgeon will make every effort to ensure that it results in minimal scarring post surgery. Post operatively the scars will remain pink and tender for at least six weeks. However after several months the scars will begin to fade and although they are likely to become very minimal, they will never disappear completely.

Will I experience any pain after having breast enlargement surgery?
After having your breast augmentation surgery you are likely to experience some tiredness and soreness. However between 24 -48 hours after your surgery you should be up and about. After approximately four weeks your breasts should no longer be sore. If necessary you can take painkillers during this time period, although you should experience only soreness rather than actual pain after surgery.
