Facial Cosmetic Surgery defined: Formally known as Rhytidectomy, a face lift is a subtle repositioning of the skin of the face, often combined with some tightening of underlying muscle and reshaping and repositioning of subcutaneous fat. The aim of facial cosmetic surgery is to give a more youthful appearance.

Face Lifts: Reducing the more visible signs of ageing - why have a face lift?
As we age, gravity sun and stress affects our faces, producing deep creases between the nose and mouth, slacker jaw lines, folds and fat deposits around the neck. Facial cosmetic surgery can reduce some of the more visible signs of ageing - excess fat is removed, underlying muscle is tightened, and the skin of your face and neck is subtly repositioned. What can and should be done during your facial cosmetic surgery will be determined during a consultation with your surgeon
Other Cosmetic Surgery Options
A face lift can be combined with other procedures which can enhance your face lift, including:
- A forehead lift (browlift)
- Eyelid surgery (for eyebags or droopy eyelids)
- Improvements to nose (rhinoplasty) or chin
- Neck Lift
- Facial Peels to improve the texture of the skin
- Injectables for lines
- Fat Transfer
How to tell if a face lift is right for you?
If your face and neck have begun to show the effects of ageing but your skin still has some elasticity and your bone structure is well defined, a face lift may be right for you. Most patients are in their forties, fifties or sixties, but face lifts can be performed successfully on people in their seventies or eighties.
Most people are happy with their face lift, particularly the realistic patients who accept that the body takes time to heal. For most patients, the effects of a face lift last so well that, years later, they'll continue to look and feel younger. Remember, however, that your face will continue to age with time, and you may want to repeat the facial cosmetic surgery procedure perhaps after ten years or so.
A face lift can make you look younger and so may enhance your self-confidence. But remember it can't alter your appearance completely, or give you back your youth. Please discuss your face lift expectations thoroughly with your surgeon before deciding.
